if和whether的區(qū)別是什么 有哪些用法

whether和if的區(qū)別主要有含義不同、用法不同。含義不同：whether是否；不管；無論；if如果；即使；每當(dāng)；條件；設(shè)想；用法不同：whether用作連詞，意思是“是否，是不是”，可引導(dǎo)名詞從句或動(dòng)詞不定式短語。

if和whether的區(qū)別

if何引|起條件狀語從句，whether不用于狀語從句。

whether可引起主語從句，表語從句，if不能用于這兩種情況。

if在名詞性從句中只能引導(dǎo)動(dòng)詞后的賓語，whether可通用。

if和whether在賓語從句中，都表“是否”，可換用，if更口語化，whether正式些。

if和whether用法

一、if和whether都可譯為“是否”，二者引導(dǎo)賓語從句時(shí)通?？梢曰ハ嗵鎿Q，口語中多用if代替whether。

例如：Ask if/whether he plans to come to the meeting. 而以下幾種情況中, 只能用whether:

1、強(qiáng)調(diào)兩方面的選擇，特別是句中有or not時(shí)。如： Let me know whether you can come or not.

2、賓語從句前置時(shí)。如： Whether this is true, I can't say.

3、引導(dǎo)主語、表語、同位語從句時(shí)。如： Whether the football game will be played depends on the weather. （主語從句）The question is whether he can do it. （表語從句）The question whether we should go with them must be decided at once. （同位語從句）

4、在介詞之后作介詞的賓語時(shí)。如： I haven't settled the question of whether I'll go back home.

5、在不定式前與不定式一起組成詞組時(shí)。如： Whether to go or stay is still a question.

6、在discuss, decide 等動(dòng)詞后作賓語時(shí)。如： We discussed whether we should go there by plane.

二、if或whether引導(dǎo)賓語從句時(shí)，作“是否”講，常放在動(dòng)詞ask 、see 、say 、know和find out等后面。一般情況下，兩者常可換用，在口語中多用if。

如：例1 Nobody knows whether (if) it will rain tomorrow. 沒有人知道明天是否下雨。

例2 Lucy asked whether (if) they had a cotton sweater .露西問他們是否有棉制的羊毛衣。
